Blind Fitness Adaptive Gym Class
Join Session 3 of our 5-session pilot program of an inclusive fitness experience designed for individuals who are blind or have low vision. This adaptive gym class blends cardio and strength training in a safe, supportive, and empowering environment.

All fitness levels welcome. Let’s move, grow, and thrive together!

When: Saturday, November 22, 2025 
Time: 9:30 - 10:30 am
Where: Human Performance Center
2320 Calle Real, Santa Barbara CA 93105

Class Structure:
  • Warm-up with guided mobility and dynamic movement
  • Split into two groups: one starts with cardio, the other with strength training
  • Groups switch midway through the class
  • Cool-down and guided stretching

What to Expect:
  • Clear verbal instruction and orientation to the space
  • Adaptive equipment and modifications available
  • Supportive trainers and volunteers to assist as needed
  • A welcoming space to build strength, confidence, and community

What to Wear and Bring:
  • Wear comfortable workout clothes and closed-toe shoes
  • Bring a water bottle
  • Positive energy and willingness to move!

Suggested donation - $10 per participant

Schedule: 
  • 9:15:-9:30am: New volunteer guide training & orientation (Mandatory for all first time volunteers)
  • 9:30-10:30am: Adaptive Gym Class
  • 10:30-10:40am: Closing Circle and Clean Up

Join us for our first special Blind Fitness Golf Clinic designed by Robert Kotowski PGA to introduce participants and volunteers to the game of golf and help prepare for the 2026 Howard Shaw Memorial California Blind, Adaptive & Disabled Winter Golf Classic!

Whether you're brand new to golf or looking to refine your skills, this clinic will offer hands-on instruction, adaptive techniques, and one-on-one guidance from experienced coaches and volunteers. Participants will learn the fundamentals of stance, swing, and putting in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Come connect, learn, and have fun while building confidence on the course - and get ready to tee up for the Howard Shaw Memorial Classic this January! First clinic: November 17. Second clinic: December 22.

Blind Fitness celebrates National White Cane Awareness Day every year in October.

Join us in celebrating the power and purpose of the white cane Saturday, October 11th from 9:30 - 12:00 pm

For people who are blind or have low vision, the white cane is more than just a tool - it’s a symbol of freedom, independence, and safety. It makes it possible to travel confidently through daily life, whether at work, school, outdoors, or around the community. White Cane Awareness Day shines a spotlight on the vital role of the white cane in empowering individuals to live fully while educating the public about its true significance.

This year we are thrilled to partner with The Braille Institute!

Who: All people who are blind or have low vision, along with their family, friends, and community members. 

When: Saturday, October 11 from 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

Where: Skaters Point Skate Park
100 E. Cabrillo Blvd., Santa Barbara CA 93101

Event Schedule

  • 9:30-10 am: New volunteer/participant human guide blind sensitivity training
  • 10-10:30 am: Welcome circle, History of White Cane Awareness Day

inner vision sound journey - A YOGA IN THE DARK EVENT 10.5.25 & 11.2.25

Immerse yourself in a multi-sensory journey designed for individuals with low or no vision. This class blends sound healing, breathwork, mindful movement, and guided meditation to awaken the senses and foster inner calm. Gentle, accessible postures with clear verbal cues support confident movement, while singing bowls, chimes, and breath practices create a soothing soundscape for deep relaxation. All levels welcome - no yoga experience needed. Come connect body, breath, and spirit in a supportive, sight-free space.

All proceeds from this event directly support Blind Fitness, empowering individuals who are blind or have low vision through adaptive fitness, outdoor recreation and community advocacy.

The Blind Fitness Beach Walk & Run is a wonderful opportunity to get outdoors, move your body, connect with others, and help raise awareness for the blind and low vision community. Join us Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 9:30am - 11:30am.

Time: 9:30am-11:30am *Mandatory new volunteer orientation at 9am*

Who: All people who are blind or have low vision, along with their family, friends, and community members. 

RSVP: Blind, low vision participants and sighted guides, please register by Thursday, September 25, 2025.

**For participants that need transportation, you need to RSVP no later than September 22. **

Location: 1118 E. Cabrillo Blvd, Santa Barbara CA 93103
We meet at the end of the Cabrillo west parking lot, next to the Cabrillo Pavilion East Beach Bathhouse. Look for the Blind Fitness flag near the bike racks and showers.

Tip: Parking entrance is located at Corona Del Mar and Cabrillo blvd. Enter the lot, turn left. Go to where the lot ends at the Cabrillo East Beach Bathhouse. There is a pay station located

Join us for our last Nite Moves of the Summer!
This vibrant weekly event is centered around fitness, fun, and community! It’s a joyful celebration “built around a run,” and we’ve had such a blast being included! 


It’s a fantastic opportunity to get moving, soak in the sunset, and connect with others in a joyful, inclusive environment. Come run, walk, or cheer with us—let’s make this last session of the season a blast to remember!

Participation Details
Blind Fitness Rate: $10/person (for each BF Athlete or sighted guide)
Blind and low vision participants, along with their volunteer guides, can join Nite Moves for just $20 per pair. ($10/person). Each participation fee should be paid directly to Nite Moves at check-in using one of the following options:

Date: Wednesday 6:00 pm: August 27 – RSVP by August 25

Where: Leadbetter Beach Park

This month join us for our Summer Beach Potluck Picnic afterwards 11:30 - 1:00 pm! Bring your favorite dish to share, beach towel, chair and of course sunscreen! We'll be on the sand, directly down from where we meet for our monthly walk.

If parking in the public lot, please be sure to pay at the pay station upon arrival.
